Patrick J. Kennedy will discuss his new book, Profiles in Mental Health Courage, which portrays the dramatic journeys of a diverse group of Americans who have struggled with mental health and addiction and their caregivers. Patrick will discuss the deeply compelling stories of bravery and resilience of those living with a variety of mental illnesses and addictions; the inspiring “mental health courage” it takes to treat their illnesses, and risk telling their stories; and the resounding silence surrounding these illnesses which remain persistent. Why these stories will help America face its crisis in families, workplaces, jails, and society at large and the profound connection, empathy, and action needed from everyone.
